The Weekend Weather: Heavy rain possible Sunday and perhaps Monday

HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Temperatures will climb back to the mid 80’s today, with low humidity. A low pressure system brings warmer and more humid weather starting Sunday and continuing most of next week. The chance for showers and thunderstorms will also increase, especially for the first of the week. It’s looking more and more like we could see heavy rain, perhaps a half inch or more, on Sunday. Combined rainfall totals from Sunday into Monday may approach an inch.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a chance of showers between 2am and 5am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 79. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
