HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Power companies worked through the night to restore power to customers around the Shenandoah Valley, following a series of storms Saturday. The storms caused multiple outages. At 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative reported 76 outages, impacting around 1200 customers. Dominion Energy reports around 169 projects in the valley with around 1400 customers impacted.

HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Severe thunderstorms caused widespread power outages and brought down trees in parts of the valley Saturday afternoon and evening. A wind gust of 63 mph was recorded at one weather station near the town of Broadway, in Rockingham County and several trees were downed by the wind in the Churchville area, closing several roads. A trained, National Weather Service spotter, reported trees down in the Buffalo Gap area. Storms east of the Blue Ridge brought down trees and power lines, leaving a large part of Charlottesville without electricity. In eastern Rockingham, near Rocky Bar, trees and lines were also reported to be down along Route 340. Several trees and wires blew down near Broadway. A large tree blew down in the 12000 block of Daphna Road. A couple of large trees blew down on US-11 Lee Highway/North Valley Pike near Lacey Spring Road to the 11000 block. Trees and wires blew down near the intersection of Wampler Road and Holsinger Road, and in the 2500 block of Mayland Road.

As of 7:30 p.m. Dominion Power reported over 32,000 without power in Virginia, with a large number of those outages in the valley. Shenandoah Valley Electric Coop reported over 8000 outages.
