BALTIMORE (JMU Athletics) – James Madison women’s soccer battled Loyola Maryland to a 1-1 draw at the Ridley Athletic Complex to close out its non-conference schedule on Sunday night.
The Dukes (2-4-1) were led offensively by a goal from Ginny Lackey, who placed three of her five shots on target. Bianca Raskin tallied her first assist of the season on the score. Tali Rovner put one shot on goal out of three total.
Sofia DeCerb received her seventh start of the season, playing all 90 minutes and facing five shots.
The Greyhounds (0-1-7) were led by a goal from Leah Carter. Hannah Goetzer started at goalkeeper and made four saves.
How it Happened
• The Greyhounds pushed into the Dukes’ defensive third early, acquiring two corner kicks within the first five minutes of action.
• JMU’s offense converted its first shot attempt of the evening, a chip over the keeper from Lackey to put the Dukes ahead 1-0 in the 18th minute.
• The Greyhounds equalized in the 38th minute, poking a shot through the right side to tie it at one apiece.
• JMU’s first shot on goal of the second half was an attempt from Samantha DeGuzman that was saved.
• The Dukes outshot the Greyhounds 3-1 in the final 20 minutes of play; however, neither team could separate as the teams fought to a 1-1 draw.
