ASHLAND, Va. (EMU Athletics) – After a midweek win against Mary Baldwin, the Royals traveled east to Ashland for a rare Sunday ODAC matchup against the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets.

Both teams came out with high intensity, however, it would be the Yellow Jackets who would come out on top after scoring one goal in the first half and three more in the second half for a 4-0 win.

Records
EMU 4-5-2, 2-1 ODAC | Randolph-Macon 3-5-1, 1-2 ODAC

Highlights
• Randolph-Macon would have the first big opportunity of the game after a shot that would dramatically hit the crossbar. The drama would immediately continue after another shot from the Yellow Jackets that CJ Jefferson would successfully parry away for her first save of the game.
• RMC’s high pressure would pay off successfully in the 15th minute when they scored their first goal of the game from a low shot after a cross into the box from the left side of the field.
• Jefferson would have another save before the end of the first half when she blocked a shot from the left side of the box to keep the Yellow Jackets’ advantage to only one goal.
• The Royals would have a chance to score late in the first half when Ella Nguyen and Anneliese Denlinger pressed high on a Randolph-Macon defender to steal the ball from her. It would be Denlinger who would take a shot to try and beat the goalkeeper’s pressure, but the shot would go sailing away on the right side of the goal to send the game to halftime.
• Only three minutes after the start of the second half, Randolph-Macon would find their second goal of the night, making it a 2-0 lead.
• In the 64th minute, EMU’s first attempt in the second half would come after a long run from Hannah Kepler, who would shoot toward the bottom left side of the goal. The Yellow Jackets’ goalkeeper made the to save to keep EMU off the board.
