BC Women’s Soccer suffers 2-1 loss at Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Catholic on the road Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
• Catholic took an early lead in the 21st minute with Kathryn Scully netting the first goal, giving the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage. Tessa Crossed extended the lead in the 39th minute, assisted by Meaghan McFarland.
• Bridgewater fought back just before halftime when Lily Hewatt scored in the 43rd minute for her first goal of the season, narrowing Catholic’s lead to 2-1 at the break.
• The Eagles pressed for an equalizer in the second half. Laura Narby came close, hitting the post in the 61st minute and later forcing a save from Catholic goalkeeper Creamer with another attempt just two minutes later. The Cardinals held off Bridgewater for the remainder of the half, defeating the Eagles and earning the 2-1 victory.

• Hewatt recorded Bridgewater’s only goal on her sole shot of the match, marking her first score of the season.
• Catholic fired off 14 shots, with five on target, while Scully and Crossed each contributed to the Cardinals’ two goals.
• Bridgewater managed eight shots, four of which were on goal, and took a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Erinn Lockard notched three saves during her 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles.
