JMU student and Dayton man identified as crash victims

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Harrisonburg Police are still seeking witnesses to a Saturday morning crash that killed a Dayton man and a JMU student.

The Harrisonburg Police Reconstruction team is working to figure out exactly what happened when a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection of South Main Street and South Avenue a little before 12:30 in the morning.

Police say 28-year old Jeremy Baugher of Dayton was driving the motorcycle that struck 18-year old Maylea Beasley of Virginia Beach.  Both died at the scene of the crash.  Witnesses at the scene have told police that the motorcycle was moving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
