NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference rolled out its cross-divisional opponents list for the 2023 football season on Thursday, as James Madison will play a full 12-game schedule with six home games and six away games.

Each season, an institution will play all six opponents in its division with three home and three away matchups. The conference slate is completed by facing two opposite division teams, with one home and one away contest.

JMU’s home conference slate features matchups against App State, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion and South Alabama. The Dukes will also make conference road trips to Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Marshall and Troy.

Dates for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference schedule will be announced in early March.

The Sun Belt Conference approved the cross-divisional opponents format that will take seven years to complete. A full rotation is defined as one home contest and one away contest against each cross-divisional opponent.

JMU’s 12-game schedule will be completed with home games against Bucknell on Sept. 2 and UConn on Nov 11, as well as road contests at Virginia on Sept. 9 and at Utah State on Sept. 23.

Game times and network designations for the first three weeks of the regular season will be announced by ESPN and the Sun Belt later in the spring.
