John was a Cobra Helicopter pilot in Vietnam ’69-’70. He left the Army but continued flying in the private sector. John flew for 50 years. Last 20 years, he spent flying the Pegasus Helicopter for UVA. Sadly, John passed away April 15 of this year. His illness was caused by his exposure to Agent Orange while in Vietnam.

Carlos Villar

On March 20, 2004, Operation Iraqi Freedom began. The initial airstrikes were followed by more than 60,000 “boots on the ground” with 15,000 Navy personnel on ships in the region. One of those Navy personnel was 20-year-old Carlos Villar, who was an F-18 jet engine mechanic on the USS John F. Kennedy, on his second deployment to the Middle East.

Scott Mitchell served in the Air Force active duty from 1994-2001 and went back after 11 years to the Air Force Reserves from 2012-2017. He was a Maintainer (aka crew chief) on the KC-10 tanker aircraft. He traveled all over the world to include three deployments to the Middle East. He comes from a family of military members that have all the branches covered. Patriotism runs deep in Scott Mitchell, and his family believes if it were not for some medical issues, he would still be serving!
