HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County will host a live auction later this month to raise funds in the fight against cancer.

The Relay for Life Live Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Woodmen Life, located at 3045 John Wayland Highway in Dayton. Organizers say the event will bring community members together to bid on a variety of unique items and experiences, with all proceeds supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society.

This year’s Relay for Life will be May 9th at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds from 5 – 9 p.m. Funds raised will help support cancer research, patient lodging and transportation programs, 24/7 support services, and local resources for patients and caregivers in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area.

“This auction is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in a fun and meaningful way,” said Dee Dee Sencindiver, event chair for Relay for Life Harrisonburg & Rockingham County. “Every donated item and every winning bid helps us move closer to ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.”

Organizers are currently accepting donations for the auction and are encouraging businesses, organizations and individuals to contribute items. Popular auction donations include gift baskets, gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, vacation stays or experience packages, event tickets, home décor and handcrafted goods, and professional services. All donated items should be new or in excellent condition and ready for presentation.

Auction items may be dropped off by appointment with a Relay for Life committee member, during the “Under the Arches McSpirit Night” on March 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the South Carlton Street McDonald’s in Harrisonburg, or at Woodmen Life on Friday, March 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donors may also arrange item pick-up by contacting the Relay for Life Harrisonburg & Rockingham County Facebook page or a committee member directly.

Relay for Life is a volunteer-driven movement that unites communities to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and take action against cancer.
