BC Women’s Lacrosse blanks Randolph, 22-0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s lacrosse team made their way back to the win column in ODAC play with a 22-0 win over Randolph. Bridgewater improved to 2-3 in conference play this season.

Records: Bridgewater (7-6, 2-3 ODAC), Randolph (1-10, 1-3 ODAC)

How it Happened
• The Eagles flew off early, notching three goals in the opening three minutes of game action. Ella Price put the Eagles on the board with a goal on an assist from Paige Overeem with 26 seconds elapsed in the game. Lauren Garrett followed with a goal on a free position shot. Paige Mayers followed with an unassisted goal with 12:15 left on the clock. Overeem scored her first goal of the contest on an assist from Kyla Fricks. Sienna Land capped the 5-0 start with an unassisted goal with 10:42 remaining. Both teams entered a scoring drought over the following eight minutes, but Bridgewater returned to their scoring ways on another goal from Land with 2:14 remaining in the opening quarter.
• BC found the back of the net seven times in the second quarter, with the first three goals coming from Paige Mayers. Alli Kuhar found the back of the net for the first time in the contest with 7:20 remaining in the first half. Ella Price, Madelaine Godat, and Overeem added marks to the BC tally over the remainder of the half to send the Eagles into the halftime huddle with a 13-0 advantage.
• Coach Ashley Hughes made a change in goal for the Eagles, taking out starter Maisen Jenkins for freshman Kaylee Gerber to start the second half. Carly Gardill started the second half on a heater, finding the back of the net three times in the first seven minutes of game action. Kuhar notched her second goal of the contest with 6:40 remaining in the third quarter. Land connected with Andrea Lorca for the final goal of the third quarter with 4:20 remaining to give the Eagles an 18-0 lead heading into the final stanza.
• Lauren Garrett found the back of the net while the Eagles were down a woman with 13:05 remaining in the contest. Gardill connected with Godat shortly after to push the BC lead to 20-0. Kuhar and Mayers score to give the Eagles a 22-0 win, one of their biggest margins of victory in program history.

Game Notes
• BC improved to 15-0 in the series against Randolph. Their win today was their biggest margin of victory over RC in program history, and their third-largest in program history at home.
• Randolph did not record a shot attempt over the entirety of the game.
• Bridgewater went 14-14 on clears while the Wildcats only recorded one clear on 16 tries.
• Nine different Eagles found the back of the net during the contest, with 11 recording a point. Paige Mayers led the way with five goals and two assists for seven points. Carly Gardill and Alli Kuhar both recorded hat tricks.
• Lauren Garrett led the team in draw controls and caused turnovers with four DCs and five CTOs.

What’s Next?
The Eagles start a two-game road trip, starting with a visit to the Sweet Briar Vixens on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 1 p.m.
