Stanley, Va. – Norfolk Southern is investigating what caused a train derailment in Page County over the weekend.
Stanley Fire Chief Terry Pettit says he received the call about two Saturday afternoon that there had been a derailment near Dovel Hollow about 6 miles south of town. Chief Pettit reported that five empty hopper cars on a northbound freight train left the track just north of the Dovel Hollow Trestle. He also said that there were no injuries and no fuel leak from any of the cars.

Norfolk and Southern crews were on the scene the rest of Saturday and overnight removing the derailed cars and repairing the track.
