Harrisonburg, Va. – An Interstate 81 crash that snarled traffic north of Harrisonburg yesterday was a fatal one.
Virginia State Police are investigating the two-vehicle crash that took place just after three in the morning Thursday on I-81 at mile marker 253.
State Police say a tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-81 when it rear-ended a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The impact of the crash took both vehicles off the highway and the Jeep overturned.
The driver of the Jeep, 59-year old Hoa Van Dau of New Market, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 40-year old Letroy Sims of Spartanburg, South Carolina has been charged with reckless driving.
