NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – James Madison lacrosse attacker Isabella Peterson has received national recognition for her performances across the NCAA first and second rounds, as she was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association on Tuesday.

She earned the award after scoring 11 goals on 23 shots, adding three assists and six draw controls as JMU won a pair of hard-fought games over Army West Point and Maryland to advance to its first NCAA Championship quarterfinals in five years.

In Friday’s first round game against Army, Peterson scored four goals to go along with an assist and three draw controls. She sent a career-high 15 shots towards the Army net, putting 10 on goal.

She followed that up with a breakout performance against Maryland in the second round on Sunday, scoring seven goals while shooting 87.5% from the field and adding two assists for a nine-point afternoon. The final two of her seven were part of a 5-0 JMU run in 5:27 to complete a four-goal fourth-quarter comeback for the Dukes.

The Sparks, Md. native both two program records last week, becoming the all-time leader in points on Sunday after reaching the single-season goals record on Friday. Peterson also tied the single-season points record on Sunday.

Peterson now sits with 89 goals and 112 points, both tops in the nation heading into the quarterfinal round.

The redshirt junior has earned her second national Player of the Week award this year, as she was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Player of the Week on Feb. 28.

Nationally, she was also named IWLCA First Team All-South Region last week and was also selected as a Tewaaraton Award finalist. This came following unanimous Attack Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference selections from the American Athletic Conference.

JMU will face a noon matchup against Syracuse in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, May 18 on ESPNU.
