RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia parents are paying more for infant care across the state. That’s according to the most recent numbers from the Economic Policy Institute.
The non-profit reports it’s costing an average of 14-thousand-dollars per year for infant care in the Commonwealth. Virginia is now ranked 10th out of 50 states and the District of Columbia for most expensive infant care. Virginia is also one of 33 states and where infant care is more expensive than college
It doesn’t get much cheaper as children get older. The institute says child care for a 4-year-old costs an average of $10,867, or $906 each month in Virginia.
